CityTV
As UX/UI Design Director for Brightcove Global Services, I consulted with CityTV (Rogers Media) to integrate video-on-demand functionality into their existing website. Working within system constraints, I led workshops that shaped the vision for their VOD experience, then created sitemaps and wireframes to guide their internal design team. The engagement focused on delivering strategic direction and media best practices that empowered CityTV to own and implement the final experience.

I facilitated a design workshop with the CityTV stakeholders through an open and collaborative approach, guiding them through media best practices while gathering their ideas. We learned what worked well and what could be improved with their existing website. I curated other apps and services as inspiration, and we sketched out ideas and flows. The result was a client who felt fully engaged and had an excellent foundation for providing video-on-demand, which significantly improved CityTV’s online experience for its customer base.
I have over ten years of experience leading design workshops and exercises that enable teams to generate and refine ideas efficiently. The workshops I create bring the practice and process of design to product problem-solving.
A highlight of my work with the CityTV team was taking them through rapid sketching exercises. These exercises allow us to explore many ideas, identify the most effective solutions, and minimize time spent on dead ends. It’s also a great way to get alignment within a team quickly.
Once we established the overall direction, I refined the information architecture with a sitemap, documented the priorities for each page with page description diagrams, and then worked on several rounds of wireframes. CityTV then took those wireframes and expanded on the visual design with my feedback.
